ENHANCED STATION IMPROVEMENTS

LOCATION: New York, NY

OWNER: MTA / Metro-North Railroad (MNR)

START DATE: 02/2018

END DATE: under construction

Sowinski Sullivan is the architect and plumbing and fire protection engineer for Enhanced Station Improvements at six MNR stations, which are being delivered through the Design Build process. Sowinski Sullivan is working with Halmar and Arup as the design & construction team. The stations include White Plains, where a complete platform and station overhaul is being undertaken; Riverdale and Crestwood stations in the Bronx, where overpass and vertical circulation as well as canopy and platform replacements are planned; Port Chester, Yonkers and 125th Street Stations where less significant, but important upgrades will be made. Common to each of these station improvements is an attention to customer and aesthetic upgrades that will enhance the customer experience. A new palette of materials reflecting the newest MNR design guidelines such as wood soffit canopies, increased glazing, Wi-Fi access, real time information availability and other similar items will be installed. Equally important is the addition of street side elements that will provide a better sense of place for these stations.
