SSA led the design on a multidisciplinary team for the new Paoli Intermodal Facility. The scope included transit-oriented development (TOD) with a new station building, platforms, an overpass, a 600-car parking garage, retail spaces, and green space integrated into the development of the surrounding side. The team developed alternatives for site movements of buses, cars, and taxis to both encourage seamless transfer between modes of travel and create a safe and convenient passenger experience. SSA also performed a sustainable study focused on IgCC, LEED, and Green Globes standards to assist SEPTA, PennDOT and Amtrak in selecting and pursuing appropriate sustainable strategies for this project. Phase One included new high-level platforms, an overpass, and other improvements required to make the existing station ADA-accessible.
