Sowinski Sullivan is the architect leading the station team developing a new transit station at the existing terminus of NFTA’s Metro Rail LRRT line. The project extended light rail revenue service to the DL&W Terminal, which is currently used by NFTA as a yard and shop facility. The project created a new, full-accessible passenger station with a high-level platform, heated waiting areas, modern finishes and lighting, and other amenities. Concurrently, the design considers Transit-Oriented Design and placemaking opportunities throughout the Terminal building and along the adjacent waterfront, as part of a city-wide goal of revitalizing this neighborhood.
