Sowinski Sullivan has been engaged by CDTA to provide schematic design services for the proposed Albany Transportation Center located in Albany, NY. Performed in collaboration with the Albany Parking Authority, this effort is intended to produce a conceptual layout, establish facility programming, an operations review, site analysis, and traffic access patterns. The goal of this project is to improve operations and enhance passenger experience for the City of Albany and increase parking capacity for transportation and adjacent transit-oriented development use. Situated near major highway access, existing CDTA and Greyhound Layover Areas, and future development projects, this location is a transportation hub for the community. The Albany Transpiration Center is intermodal and incorporates inter-city bus services, a bus wash/fuel station, multi-level parking garage, and ground floor retail spaces. In addition to providing various amenities and using, this development is intended to support Trailways, Greyhound, CDTA’s anticipated growth in ridership and the growth of Albany’s community in this given area.
