SSA is the lead architect as part of the design-build team for the extension of Metro-North New Haven Line service through the Bronx and into NY Penn Station. Penn Station Access will bolster equity, regional connectivity, and reliability by delivering a new transit option. The project includes 6.5 miles of new rail line, supporting infrastructure and four new commuter rail stations: Hunts Point Station, Parkchester/Van Nest Station, Morris Park Station, and Co-op City Station. SSA worked with the design build team during the pursuit stage to refine the team’s proposed design approach and, since being awarded the project, has continued to refine the design and execute construction of the project. By implementing a collaborative approach to meet Metro-North’s requirements, SSA has focused on a streamlined solutions- and success-driven delivery process to effectively and economically deliver the project.
